I have been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for about 10 years now and running my Online Marketing Business (DigiWEI) for about 3 years. Brazilian Jiu jitsu or what a lot of people call it is Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Gracie Jiu Jitsu was developed by the Gracie family in Brazil, they were taught Judo by Mitsuyo Maeda from Japan. One of the Gracie brothers was Helio Gracie who was too young and sick at the time to take part in the classes would watch. One day, when one of his brothers didn’t show up to teach a student, Helio stepped up and taught this student. The student was so impressed with Helios teaching that he want to learn under Helio. Since Helio was pretty fragile he had to develop a different type of Jiu Jitsu, which uses more leverage and efficiency to his body type. This is how he improved Japanese Jiu Jitsu to create Gracie Jiu Jitsu. You can learn more about the Gracie Family – HERE, this was my cliff note version of Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

So how does doing Jiu Jitsu relate to my online business?
Gracie Jiu Jitsu is all about efficiency, conserving your energy for a fight, and let your opponent tire themselves out. If I apply that main teaching to DigiWEI, online marketing, and life it can make a big difference in my business. Here is the definition of Efficiency – the state or quality of being efficient, or able to accomplish something with the least waste of time and effort; competency in performance. In business, if I am not being efficient with my time then I am wasting it. When I first started running DigiWEI, I tried to do everything… one of those things was the bookkeeping. I hated accounting in college and I barely passed it… it actually took me 2 tries to get past it, that’s how much I hated it. So when I tried to do the accounting for DigiWEI it took me all day, that obviously is not efficient with my time and it doesn’t account for if I did it right. One of the best choices I made at that time was to hire a bookkeeper that does it for me. The cost for a bookkeeper and the time I gained back are well worth it. That is just one way another way that Jiu-Jitsu has helped me in my online business is to streamline task and get a virtual assistant to help me do things. I can go on and on about how taking that mindset of “Efficiency” in Jiu Jitsu and transferring it to my business has helped.

Obviously, you can transfer a lot what you learn in a martial arts to your business. This is a very short and brief way I took one key learning and used it in DigiWEI.
